Pakistan Cricket team in the Twenty20 world cup match played against Australia on 2nd May 2010 in West Indies, broke a 140 years old record. The record was most wickets in an over by any team in any form of the cricket at any level. This all was made possible with the fantastic bowling performance of Pakistan pace bowler Muhammad Aamir and wicket keeper Kamran Akmal. Muhammad Sami was also involved in the record.
It was the last over of the Australian innings when they were comfortably placed at 191 for the loss of 5 wickets. Muhammed Aamir started the 20th over. The batsman Haddin played straight into the safe hands of Sami fielding at point while trying to hit him for a four through to the point area.
Aamir sent Johnson back to dressing room on the 2nd ball which was an unplayable in swinger right into his stumps.
Now Aamir was on a chance to score a hat-trick. Third ball Aamir was not able to get the wicket. It was a fast paced ball which batsman not able to touch and started running towards the bowling end. In stealing a bye from the hands of Kamran Akmal, Hussey was run out. That completed the hat-trick for the team but not for Aamir.
On the 4th
ball of the 20th over, combination of Aamir and Akmal repeated the same
performance, only this time the batsman was Smith. The result was also
same as 3rd ball and Smith had to go back to dressing room.
The 5th ball went quiet and only change in the score board was a ball more added in the overs bowled.
Then came the last ball of the over. Tait was facing Aamir, he failed
to reply to a blazing speed in-swing ball of Aamir which went straight
into the roots of his wickets. He was out bold on the last ball of the
innings. The last over ended as a maiden with five wickets including a team hat-trick. It turned to be a record by any team after 140 years of cricket history. Australia set a target of 192 runs for Pakistan, getting all out at 191 in 20 overs. Pakistan were not able to chase the target and managed to score only 157 runs all out in their allotted 20 overs. Australia won the match by 34 runs. The match ended with a record Pakistan’s 5 Wickets in 1 Over which is a world record for any team.
