LONDON: A twelve-year-old primary
school girl became the Britain’s youngest mother after giving birth to
7lb baby girl last weekend while the father is aged 13.
UK’s youngest mother was reportedly aged
12 years and three months while giving birth to a healthy baby girl of
her boyfriend who lives her family home in north London.
The names of the parents are not yet
disclosed due to legal reason; however, it was the youngest ever parents
in the history of Britain as previous youngest parents were
14-year-olds from Caerphilly, UK.
According to reports,
the girl fell pregnant at 11 while still studying at a local primary
school in Year 7 after having relationship with a boy who is also a
primary school student in Year 9.
The newborn child reportedly weighed
7lbs which is close to the UK average for a newborn girl of 7lb 4oz
while the girl’s mother aged 27 became one of Britain’s youngest
grandmothers, British media reported.
A man claiming to be the father of the
twelve-year-old mother told radio station LBC via live call that he has
‘no shame’ and ‘proud’ of her daughter; but admitted that ‘broke down
with emotion’ when discovering only four weeks ago that his eldest
daughter was about to give birth.
The report quoted sources; saying that the pair were ‘totally in love’ and planning to care their newborn daughter together.
According to Daily Mail reports,
Britain’s youngest mother, Tressa Middleton, became pregnant at 11 and
gave birth aged 12 in Edinburgh in 2006. The youngest father on record
is Sean Stewart, of Bedford, who became a father aged 12 in 1998.
Famously in 2009, Alfie Patten from Eastbourne, East Sussex, told a
newspaper that he believed he had made his 15-year-old girlfriend
pregnant when he was just 12.
